Yeovil currently sit 14th in the National League and have won two of their last five games. Scunthorpe sit 6th and in the play-off spots, but they haven’t won any of their last five fixtures.

Andy’s Bet Club’s football analyst will break down Yeovil’s recent clash with Tamworth to see what the statistics suggest about how they might set up against Scunthorpe.

Yeovil Town vs Tamworth

The 2-0 scoreline suggests a comfortable victory for Yeovil and the statistics back this up.

As well as having a lot more shots in the game, Yeovil also created higher-quality chances with an xG (expected goals) of 2.98. In comparison, Tamworth created an xG of 0.75.

Despite less than a third of Yeovil’s attacks coming from central areas, it was here that they created 2.39 xG, which was 80% of their total xG.

The passing stats show that Yeovil focused on shorter and more accurate passes with a long pass percentage of 9%. Whereas, Tamworth were a lot more direct with a long pass percentage of 21%.

Final Thoughts

Yeovil come into this game off the back of two straight victories, scoring five goals in the process, so Scunthorpe will need to be aware of the threat that Yeovil can cause in the final third.

Yeovil have averaged a PPDA (Passes per Defensive Action) of 14.02 this season, so Scunthorpe can expect Yeovil to be more passive and sit deeper when out of possession.

Yeovil reverted back to their familiar 3-4-3 in their last three games, and with two of those producing victories, it would be no surprise if they continued with this formation against Scunthorpe.
