Scunthorpe United is appealing for volunteers to remove covers on the Attis Arena surface on matchday from 9.30am.

With a forecast of below-freezing temperatures this evening, the frost covers have been installed on areas of the pitch to help ensure the game goes ahead, with supporters requested to help us remove these in the morning.

We can also confirm a precautionary pitch inspection took place on Friday afternoon to confirm the playability of the pitch ahead of Saturday’s game following a week’s worth of rain. A suitably qualified match official inspected the Attis Arena playing surface, with communication to the appointed match referee Richard Aspinall. It was deemed that, if the game was to be played today (Friday), the match would be going ahead, and therefore there are currently no concerns.

We have been in close communication with our opposition, Boston United, and are aware of their departure times in the morning. As such, we will be taking a look at the pitch again in the morning to ensure there have been no adverse changes overnight before hopefully giving their team and supporters buses the green light to travel.

As always, we consider as many factors as possible when taking into account the decision-making process, with attempting to prevent the majority of supporters travelling unnecessarily at the forefront of our mind.

At this time, we remain confident that the game will go ahead, and look forward to welcoming everyone to the Attis Arena tomorrow afternoon, with tickets available from our FanBase site.

Any supporters willing to assist us in the morning are asked to meet in main reception for 9.30am.
