Scunthorpe United is delighted to confirm York City loanee Mo Fadera will remain at the club until the end of the season, with his initial one-month loan spell now extended to cover the rest of the 2024-25 campaign.
The 20-year-old arrived at the Attis Arena in mid-January and has so far left an impressionable mark at the club, scoring two goals in his seven appearances so far, with six of those coming from the substitute's bench.
The Iron's second goal at Warrington would seal an away win and be Fadera's first professional goal, before he clinched a last minute point three days later at home to Curzon Ashton, steering in an equaliser in the third minute of four added on.
Born in Gambia, Fadera linked up with the Minstermen in the summer of 2024 having thrived against Adam Hinshelwood’s side for previous club Garforth Town in a pre-season friendly.
Since joining York, Fadera has appeared predominantly off the bench and has impressed supporters with his attitude, desire and lightning quick pace. Fadera originally started out playing grassroots football with Hamilton Panthers, before joining Garforth in the summer and immediately attracting interest. After being initially loaned out to the struggling Farsley Celtic in December he would return soon after and make his first start for his parent club earlier this month when he was selected to start City’s FA Trophy defeat at Gainsborough Trinity.
As well as impressing the Minstermen contingent, Fadera has quickly become a fan favourite among the Iron faithful, and was described as a player that was likely to excite and get supporters off their seats by first team manager Andy Butler.
Scunthorpe United would like to thank York City for their cooperation and support in allowing Mo to remain with us until the end of the season, which does include the dates of the play-offs should the Iron quality. The nature of the extension holds a clause in which Mo can be recalled at 24 hours notice.
