Kevin Keegan book of condolence spending Wednesday at British Steel

Scunthorpe United is grateful to British Steel for hosting the Club's official book of condolence in memory of Kevin Keegan while the Attis Arena remains closed.

Colleagues of British Steel will be able to pay their respects by signing the book at the reception of the British Steel Administration Building on Wednesday, 29 July, until 4.15pm.

Kevin Keegan's remarkable football journey began at Scunthorpe United, where he made more than 100 first-team appearances before enjoying an illustrious career with Liverpool, Hamburg, Southampton and Newcastle United. He later captained and managed England, earning worldwide recognition as one of the game's most celebrated figures.

Before his rise to international football, Kevin also worked at the Scunthorpe steelworks. Throughout his life, he remained immensely proud of his roots, regularly speaking of the important influence that Scunthorpe, Scunthorpe United and the local steel industry had on his life and career.

With the Attis Arena closed on Wednesday, the Club would like to thank British Steel, the Club's front-of-shirt sponsor, for providing a fitting location where supporters and the wider community can come together to remember one of Scunthorpe's greatest sporting ambassadors.

The Club recognises that many people across Scunthorpe and beyond will have cherished memories of Kevin and his enduring connection with both the football club and the town. Everyone wishing to pay their respects is warmly invited to sign the book throughout the day.

The book of condolence will return to the Attis Arena on Thursday, and will be available to sign for the remainder of this week and also on Sunday when we host our United by Steel Gala Day and Legends encounter.
