Jacob Butterfield named Vanarama National League North Player of the Month for October

Midfield maestro Jacob Butterfield has been named the Vanarama National League North's player of the month for October.

An achitect of the Iron's successes in October, the 33-year-old who has plenty of pedigree in the Championship throughout his career, netted a stunning free-kick as Scunthorpe celebrated the change of ownership with a 1-0 win at Glanford Park in front of over 5,000 spectators.

Scoring another 30-yard effort in the following home game against Spennymoor Town, Butterfield has orchestrated the United midfield in the month of October, and has picked up a couple of MOTM awards, as well as his goal of the season contenders.

His form - and long range spectacular strikes - has continued into November, with his last seven goals all coming from outside the penalty area.

In amongst a relegation, a title push was born - and at least the players are helping end the year in a positive way. Jacob Butterfield is one of those who refuses to let what’s gone on get in the way of performance.

He scored two goals and provided three assists in their four matches as they ended October hot on the heels of surprise table toppers Tamworth. Experienced Butterfield scored a superb winner against Brackley with a free-kick before notching a long-range strike against Spennymoor Town.

Twice last month they hit half a dozen goals and with two months left of the calendar year, fans are wondering what other twists and turns could be heading their way!
