Alfie Beestin signs new two-year contract

29 April 2022

Scunthorpe United is delighted to announce midfielder Alfie Beestin has signed a new two-year contract with the club.

With the new deal coming into effect from July 2022, the 24-year-old has extended his stay at the Sands Venue Stadium until the summer of 2024.

Since signing for the Iron in January 2020, the former Doncaster Rovers man has made 85 appearances for the club, scoring on six occasions, including important goals against Colchester United, Cambridge United and Southend United last term.

First team manager Keith Hill told iFollow Iron: "He's certainly a player I want to carry forward into next season's successes.

"He's struggled this season with conditioning because of two or three cases of Covid, but after a good pre-season when he gets really trained in the philosophy that I want and expect in and out of possession, it will become automatic for him.

"His footballing ability isn't in question and we've got to be able to showcase it the best that we can. I want to help him climb back up the footballing tree.

"I've made it clear to Alfie that he's a key component of my plans, and we've got to utilise his footballing brain and abilities, marrying it up with the hard work, intensity and football fitness."
