Ty Sellars-Fleming joins the Iron on loan from Hull City

Scunthorpe United is delighted to confirm that academy graduate Ty Sellars-Fleming has returned to the club for a third spell on a season-long loan from Premier League side Hull City.

A product of the Iron’s youth academy, Sellars-Fleming departed the club to join the Tigers in 2023 with just a handful of first team appearances under his belt. However, the prolific forward’s goals at youth level spoke for themselves, building him a reputation that caught the eye of Hull, where he continued to dominate the youth league, providing 27 goals in his first two seasons with the Hull City U21's.

The versatile forward returned to the club where it all started in September of 2025 on a short-term loan deal, looking to build on his experience from his previous loan spell with Gateshead FC during the 2024-25 season. Initially joining the club on a 28-day loan, the young forward's contribution of back-to-back goals against York City and Southend United saw first-team manager Andy Butler act quickly to extend the 19-year-old's spell for a further three months.

During his time with the Iron last season, Sellars-Fleming went on to score six goals across 16 appearances in all competitions and really came into his own when operating off the flank, quickly becoming a key figure in United's strong first half of the 2025-26 Enterprise National League season.

Upon returning to Hull at the conclusion of his loan spell, Sellars-Fleming would be immediately sent on loan to United's local rivals Grimsby Town, where he would spend the second half of the campaign, making 10 appearances and scoring once as part of the Mariners side that made it to the League Two play-offs.

So far this campaign, Sellars-Fleming has been firmly involved with the Tigers' first-team squad, featuring several times in pre-season fixtures as well as coming off the bench during Sergej Jakirović's side's Carabao Cup victory over Stoke City. Now the forward rejoins the Iron with hopes of earning more first-team experience as well as aiding Scunthorpe's hopes of rising up the league standings.

The nature of the season-long loan does hold a recall clause in January should the Tigers wish to take him back to the MKM Stadium.
