Scunthorpe United is delighted to announce the signing of Hull City defender Stan Ashbee on a short-term loan deal.
Son of Tigers legend Ian Ashbee, the left-sided centre-back is renowned for bringing an old-school defensive style to his game, while also possessing the versatility to operate at left-back.
A product of Hull City’s academy system, Ashbee has risen through the ranks at the MKM Stadium and has been involved with the first team on several occasions. He signed his first professional contract in December 2023 before making his senior debut just a month later, starting in the Emirates FA Cup Third Round Replay away at Birmingham City as a 17-year-old.
The defender was named Hull City’s Frank Donoghue Academy Player of the Year for both the 2022-23 and 2023/-24 seasons and has long been a regular for the Tigers’ U21 side. Ashbee has also represented the Republic of Ireland at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 level, helping the U17's qualify for the 2023 UEFA European Under-17 Championship in Hungary.
Aside from his first-team appearance for Hull, Ashbee has gained further experience in men’s football during a month-long loan spell with Farsley Celtic in the National League North back in December 2024.
Having already trained with the Iron in recent weeks, the defender is now ready to bring his competitive edge to the Scunthorpe United squad after recently signing a contract extension with the Tigers,
Welcome to the Iron, Stan!
