Scunthorpe United is saddened to learn of the passing of supporter Michael Dent at the age of 80.
Following a medical emergency during the first half of our recent Enterprise National League game against York City a couple of weeks ago, we have remained in close contact with Michael's family after it was confirmed he suffered a heart attack. After pulling through and remaining stable, he was discharged from Castle Hill Hospital in Hull on February 28th and returned home for further rest and recovery.
Sadly, at 2.54am on Sunday, March 8th, Michael suffered a further issue with his heart and peacefully passed away.
An avid Iron fan, Michael was very frequently present at games in the Britcon Stand and would always spend time talking to a number of people in the Iron Bar, whether he knew them or not, always attending games with his son, Anthony, and grandson, Spencer.
The family wish to reiterate their heartfelt thanks to all involved in immediately responding to the emergency, and for the efforts of the on-duty paramedics. Their swift actions to get him blue-lighted to hospital prolonged Michael's life and enabled his family to spend some valuable time with him over the last 12 days.
Everyone at Scunthorpe United sends their heartfelt condolences to Michael's family and friends at this sad time.
