Nostalgic Gala races taking place on the HITEK Training Ground

Families are invited to lace up their trainers and relive the excitement of traditional school sports day races as the nostalgic Gala Races make their return at the United by Steel Gala at Scunthorpe United on Sunday.

Taking place on the HITEK Training Ground, the free-to-enter races are designed especially for children and families, bringing plenty of fun, friendly competition, and the chance to win an exclusive limited-edition prize.

The action gets underway from 11am, with three nostalgic challenges throughout the morning. Age ranges for each race will depend on uptake and footfall at the time of the races:

11.00am – Gala Races #1: 100m Run
The first race of the day sees young sprinters take on a classic 100m dash. The winner will receive an exclusive limited-edition prize.

11.15am – Gala Races #2: Cone Shuttle Run
Test your speed and agility in the cone shuttle run. Another exclusive limited-edition prize is up for grabs for the winner.

11.30am – Gala Races #3: Parent and Child Relay
Round off the morning with a fun-filled parent and child relay, where teamwork is the key to success. One final exclusive limited-edition prize awaits the winning pair.

The Nostalgic Gala Races are part of our United by Steel Gala, celebrating community, family fun, and bringing people together through sport and entertainment, in partnership with British Steel.
