The Iron are back in action after a disappointing finale to their latest away match on the
road against Morecambe. Scunthorpe went 1-0 down in the first half after shipping a goal
against Miguel Azeez, but responded with two goals from Roberts and Rowley to enter
stoppage time in the lead. After conceding a penalty, Admiral Muskwe made the Iron pay
in the 97th minute to rescue a Morecambe point. Next up is another trip on the road, facing
2nd placed Boreham Wood.

In the reverse fixture, neither side got the three points. Matt Rush put The Wood 1-0 up inside
The first minute of play, but Cal Roberts struck the Iron level with fifteen minutes left to play.
Boreham Wood got a huge win on the road last time out, winning 3-0 against Braintree. Zak
Brunt and Matt Rush got them into the lead by two goals at halftime, before Charles Clayden
netted the third in the 49th minute. The significance of the result comes due to the nature of
their game before that. The Wood lost 5-0 to Burton Albion in the FA Cup, but the huge
scoreline didn’t affect their league form as they had an immediate bounce back, making it six
consecutive league victories.

A couple of key players for the hosts are attackers Matt Rush and Abdul Abdulmalik. Rush is a
player who Scunthorpe's defence will be aware of, it took the 24-year-old less than a minute to
show his quality in the reverse fixture to fire his side into the lead at the Attis Arena. Rush has
made 25 appearances and has netted 15 goals, in the league and in all competitions, has scored
19, already the most goals he’s ever scored in a campaign. Abdulmalik is a left winger, and he has been a goal threat for the Wood this season. He has scored the most goals after Matt Rush for his side. With eight goals and two assists in the league and ten goals in all competitions, the goalscoring wide player could cause Scunthorpe some problems defensively in this fixture.

Three points for the Iron would put Scunthorpe one point behind Forest Green, two points
behind Rochdale, and just three points behind the top three teams in the league, before the
other sides play the following day. Boreham Wood in 2nd place would go top of the league if
they manage to avoid defeat, going top of the league by one point with a draw, and a victory
would put them three points clear, before Carlisle’s next match the following day. With a lot to
play for in the table, both sides will be keen to get the victory.
