Scunthorpe United Football Club reminds all supporters that unsavoury, abusive or discriminatory chanting is unacceptable and has no place in football.
While recent attention has followed the Club’s fixture against Forest Green Rovers, this message is not limited to that match alone. Supporters are asked to consider the content of all chants, including those that may be used more generically or habitually, which could still be considered offensive, discriminatory or inappropriate.
The Club is committed to providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all supporters, players, staff and officials. Chanting or behaviour that may cause offence or distress to others, when reported, can result in disciplinary action being taken against the Club by the Football Association.
Supporters are therefore urged to consider the content of chants at all times and to play their part in upholding the values of respect and inclusivity that Scunthorpe United stands for.
The Club will continue to work closely with the relevant authorities to address any incidents and appreciates the cooperation of the vast majority of supporters who help make matchdays at the Attis Arena enjoyable for everyone.
