Scunthorpe United duo Andy Butler and Callum Roberts have both been nominated for respective manager and player of the month awards for December by the Enterprise National League.
Completing a perfect final calendar month of 2025 with wins in all of the Iron's league and cup encounters, December couldn't have gone any better for the Iron with 12 points from 12 in our four league games, bowing out of the National League Cup with victory over Newcastle United and progression in the Isuzu FA Trophy with a win over Peterborough Sports.
Across the six games, United netted 16 goals, conceding just three as the side kept pace with those ahead of them. While league position never deviated from sixth position in the Enterprise National League, the Iron maintained the chase against those ahead of them, and opened up a sizeable gap to eighth place, which now stands at 11 points.
With four goals across the month for frontman Roberts, he netted three in the league and was instrumental in the Iron attaining six of those 12 points with his goalscoring boots. Netting a brace in the 2-1 win at Hartlepool on Boxing Day, he would also close the year with what proved to be in the winner in the 2-0 win over Gateshead. He was also included in all four of December's team of the week sides as published by the league.
It's the second time both have been nominated for the awards, with Butler recognised in August for the side's positive start back in the Enterprise National League, ironically ending that month in sixth place, while Roberts was shortlisted back in October following another four-goal month where he notched three in the league and one in the Emirates FA Cup win over King's Lynn Town. Neither were awarded the overall accolade on those occasions.
