Scunthorpe United can confirm that forward Declan Howe has departed the club to join fellow Enterprise National League side Altrincham FC on loan for an initial month.

Howe joined the Iron following back-to-back record-breaking campaigns for Russ Wilcox’s Gainsborough Trinity side, in which he accumulated 67 goals in all competitions. Last campaign, Howe finished the season second in both the Northern Premier League and Emirates FA Cup goalscoring charts; he even topped the leaderboard in the Isuzu FA Trophy with his impressive return of six goals.

Since re-joining the club, where he started his career in the summer. Howe made a strong start to life in claret and blue with five goals in his opening seven league appearances. Since then, Howe has continued to help Scunthorpe in their play-off push, scoring ten goals in all competitions across 31 appearances, with the majority of which coming from the bench in recent months.

The forward now joins Alty, currently in 16th position in the National League, in search of regular game time, linking up with manager Neil Gibson.

Best of luck, Dec!
