The Iron add to their attacking ranks with the addition of forward Hugh Parker

Scunthorpe United is delighted to confirm the signing of Hull City forward Hugh Parker, who joins the Iron on an initial six-month loan.

Starting his career in his native Ireland with the University College Dublin, Parker would begin to make a name for himself in Irish football at the age of just 18, making 34 appearances across all competitions for the Students and helping himself to five goal contributions in his first senior season in the Irish First Division.

Following a successful start to his senior career, Parker would make the switch to Humberside when he joined the Iron's neighbours from the North side of the bridge, Hull City, on a two-and-a-half-year deal in February 2025. Upon arriving in England, the 20-year-old would become a mainstay in Hull's U21 side, being elected captain for the 2025-26 campaign, during which he scored 10 goals and recorded five assists in 21 league and cup outings up until February of last season.

After a promising first half of the season in the Professional Development League, Parker would be allowed to venture out on loan, joining fellow Enterprise National League side Carlisle United, although he would be largely underutilised by Manager Mark Hughes, with 11 of his 13 appearances coming off the bench in the latter stages of games.

Despite initially being tipped to join the Iron during our pre-season preparations, Parker would be sidelined with an minor injury, delaying the loan deal until he regained full fitness. Now, the Irishman is back in contention and links up with United looking to provide further competition for the Scunthorpe forward line.
