The Iron Foundation was formed in 2022 with the organisation moving from the Scunthorpe United Community Sport and Education Trust branded which commenced in 2008 following the dissolution of the national Football in the Community charity. 

The remit of the Iron Foundation is to use the power of football as the catalyst to enact positive change within our local community. Operating under four key themes: Education, Sports Participation, Health and Social Inclusion, they aim to offer enjoyable and worthwhile activities to the largest possible cross-section of our community.
