The Iron are set to return to action in midweek after a dominant display at the weekend
over Truro City as United won by four. Joey Dawson scored his first league goal of the
season, and it was a stunner to break the deadlock in the 23rd minute, getting the only
goal of the opening half. Second half strikes from Declan Howe, Alfie Beestin and Danny
Whitehall coming off the bench made the result emphatic, whilst the Iron hung on to keep
their first clean sheet of the season. Next up is a Wednesday night clash up against an
in-form Boreham Wood hunting down a sixth consecutive victory.

Both sides have started life in the National League brightly exceeding early expectations from
many after getting promoted to the division, now both sides in the play off positions will feel
optimistic about the campaign. Boreham Wood went up through the play offs like United and will
be hoping to keep their tidy run of form going. Manager Luke Garrard played for the Wood from
2010-2016 making over 147 appearances, now as a coach he started managing his side in
September 2024 and has been a huge success. Garrard has managed 60 games and won 40
with seven draws and thirteen losses, a really positive record. Comparisons could very easily be
drawn between the Wood manager and our very own gaffer, Andy Butler, who played over 150
games for the Iron having three stints as a player before also having play off success as a
manager.

A few players who could cause danger for the Iron are Erico Souza, Luke Norris, and Zak Brunt.
Brunt has got three goals and an assist from midfield in his five appearances this season. The
23 year old has scored two in his last two and is in red hot form going into this fixture. Luke
Norris is currently the top scorer for the Wood, Norris has netted four goals from seven
appearances. Erico Souza has been another bright spark for Boreham Wood with eight goal
involvements from his eight appearances with three goals and five assists, he is set to be a
threat and recently bagged a brace against Altrincham.

As both newly promoted sides look to continue their flying starts to the division, it is set to be an
even match between each side.
