The Iron host a rescheduled fixture against a Morecambe side this evening, looking to take their points tally into double figures.
In the Iron’s last outing their unbeaten run came to an end in a home clash against
Carlisle, losing 1-0 in a tight affair where United were playing with a ten man
disadvantage for the majority of the game. Scunthorpe came close from many efforts but
Aaron Hayden’s goal in the 20th minute was the winner before Andrew Boyce’s sending
off five minutes before the interval.
Since their relegation from the football league last season it’s been a rollercoaster for the
Shrimps. After going through a financial crisis seeing the club come extremely close to going
into administration they managed to get a takeover by a Sikh-led investment group, Panjab
Warriors, to save their club, and now they look to pick up form in the league and aim for survival.
After hiring 30 year old Sikh coach, Ashvir Joval, our opponents are still yet to win a game on
the road with just two points picked up away from home this season, a record his side will be
determined to improve in this fixture.
With just two victories this season, points have been hard to come by for Morecambe but after
getting a good point on the road against Tamworth, the visitors will be looking to cause an upset
in the table. Attackers Jack Nolan and Admiral Muskwe, have been a threat for the Shrimps this
season. No other Morecambe player has scored more than the duo, Nolan has bagged three
goals and got three assists this season from just six appearances. Muskwe has also been a
threat with three goals and one assist for the Zimbabwean.
Looking to make the most out of a game in hand over other promotion pushers, Andy Butler’s
side will be determined to push up the table and get all three points. A win would put the Iron
just two points behind top spot and apply pressure on the top three.
