Scunthorpe United is delighted to confirm striker Danny Whitehall has committed to the club on a new two-year contract.

The 29-year-old has enjoyed a successful two-year stay at the Iron so far, with his goals, assists and contributions seeing the side promoted back to the National League via the play-offs, which saw Whitehall net a brace in the semi-final against Chorley before opening the scoring against Chester in the Promotion Final.

Whitehall signed for the Iron following two seasons on the south coast with Eastleigh where he scored 23 goals, including the winner at the Attis Arena in their 1-0 win back in March 2023.

A striker with much pedigree, with a career which took him from Liverpool to Rochdale, Southport to Marine and Prescot Cables, Whitehall moved across to the United States at college level before graduating to club level, most notably being awarded the NAIA Player of the Year award, amongst other accolades for Hastings College, after setting a record of 93 goals in 75 games.

His clubs prior to signing for Eastleigh saw him rack up goals at Maidenhead and Kilmarnock.

So far in claret and blue, Danny has netted a total of 39 goals, with 18 coming in our promotion winning campaign last season despite a 12-week injury lay-off. In total for the club, in all competitions, he’s played 82 games for the club during his two-year stint.

“I’m really happy. At the end of last season it was very much a goal, given how well we did and everything that came with the promotion. I set my stall out early, and thankfully we’ve been able to get it over the line.

“It’s massive to have that stability, and you look for that in a job. The missus is very happy round here, and my two children have grown up here, one was born here, so really happy to be staying for those reasons, and for football reasons as well.

“The two seasons I’ve been here have been good for me personally in terms of goals per game ratio. I think my goals per game ratio at the level above is pretty decent as well, so hopefully I can continue that next year and the year after.”
