Scunthorpe United can confirm that next week’s scheduled trip to face Crowle Colts will now no longer take place.

The club were made aware of the ongoing work on their playing surface, and having reviewed the pitch at Windsor Park, it was agreed that the likelihood would be that the surface might not be suitable to fulfil the fixture following the recent warm weather which has had a detrimental impact on the fantastic work a number of volunteers had undertaken throughout the close season. We understand Crowle went to great lengths to get the pitch in the best shape possible, but unfortunately the recent high temperatures and lack of rainfall has had a huge impact on this.

We know that Crowle Colts and many supporters may be disappointed by this news, but both clubs agreed that it was in the best interests to cancel the fixture, and the Iron will therefore be playing an alternative fixture on this day, which will be announced in due course.

We would like to thank everyone associated with Crowle Colts for their understanding and communication throughout this process, and wish them all the very best for their first season in the Northern Counties East Football League.
