Born in Spain, he began his youth career at Barcelona before joining Arsenal’s Under-9s after stints at Chelsea and Southampton, after his family moved back to England. After adding Southampton, Arsenal and Reading to the sides he trialled with, he eventually settled on West Ham United, where he signed in 2014.
Corbett featured regularly for Hammers' Under-18 and Under-23 side, especially over his final year at the club, while he also had a trial at Manchester United in 2020. He scored in a 1-0 win at Under-18 level, and significantly interested the Red Devils, but he was subsequently unable to sign for them due to a dispute with his compensation fee.
Despite the Hammers offering him a new deal in 2021, the 21-year-old opted to end a seven-year association with the side, and moved to Peterborough United.
Capable of playing as a striker, on the channel, or in the number 10 and eight roles, he is highly-rated by Peterborough, and has made three appearances for their first team this season, including a start in the Carabao Cup, and two substitute appearances in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.
The nature of the switch to the Iron holds a recall after 28 days of the initial period, should the Posh wish to activate it.
Kai's switch to Scunthorpe comes in time for him to be included in this evening's squad at Spennymoor Town.
