Cameron Wilson joins Scarborough Athletic on loan

15 March 2024

Iron attacker Cameron Wilson has joined fellow National League North side Scarborough Athletic on loan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old signed his first professional deal with the club in May 2021, after joining the club at Under-11s level in 2013 from Goole Town Tigers, a local team in his hometown.

He made his professional debut for the club on the opening day of the 2021-22 season as a 77th minute substitute. He made five appearances that month for the club before spending some time out on loan at the Seadogs when they were in the Northern Premier League, where he'd make 17 appearances.

Recalled in April 2022, Wilson played five games for Scunthorpe towards the end of the season, including scoring his first professional goal in the 1-1 draw against Hartlepool United.

Last season, he made a total of 33 appearances in the National League for United, scoring five goals across the season. Among the strikes was the winner away at Halifax live on BT Sport and a brace in a 4-1 home win over Wealdstone.

So far in this campaign, he's made 24 appearances, 12 of which being league starts, with his only goal coming against Scarborough in the 4-1 win at the start of the season.

The nature of the loan holds a recall option following the first 28 days. We wish Cam the best of luck for his spell away from the Attis Arena.
