Scunthorpe United is delighted to announce the contract extension of the club's longest serving professional player Alfie Beestin in a new deal that sees him extend his stay at the Attis Arena for the forthcoming season.

Beestin first put pen to paper with the Iron in January 2020, as we signed him from nearby Tadcaster Albion. Initially brought in for the Under-23s team, Beestin used his experience that he’d gained with Doncaster Rovers in the years previous to break into the Iron squad and has kept his place ever since.

Despite last season’s campaign being plagued with injuries, Beestin battled through and firmly grasped his opportunity’s when given by scoring four times in the 22 appearances he made in the league with memorable goals coming against Hereford when he auditioned for goal of the season with a tremendous, long ranged effort on his weaker left-foot.

Now 26, Beestin will be hoping really make a spot in Andy Butler’s side his own this year by carrying over his impressive end from the last campaign into the 2024-25 season.

We will get reaction from Alfie's contract extension when he returns from leave.
