Jason Law previews the Iron's Lincolnshire derby

5 January 2024

In-form winger Jason Law looks ahead to the Iron’s first fixture of 2024 with a recently rejuvenated Boston United that under the management of Ian Culverhouse have climbed to within touching reach of the play-offs.

Firstly, Law missed out on Scunthorpe’s previous encounter with Farsley Celtic last week, and when asked on why he missed out, he explained: “I had a bit of trouble with my groin towards the end of the Boxing Day game, however I’m back now and I’m fit and ready.

“It was frustrating not to be playing in the new year’s game, but the lads did a great job and got another good win away from home so it’s all going well.”

With United’s injury list forever getting shorter, Law was asked whether being out of the squad is even more frustrating given the vast amounts of competition within United’s ranks: “It’s definitely frustrating when within this team we’ve got five good maybe even six good wide players so you know you have to perform.”

The Iron and the Pilgrims have already faced each other once this season, this fixture took place back on Halloween as an enthralling encounter ended in a 1-1 draw. Law was questioned on what he was set to expect from Culverhouse’s side: “I think it’s definitely going to be a tough game; they gave us a game at their place, so we can expect a tough one, but you know that at Glanford Park we always put on a good performance so I’m looking forward to it.

“Everybody will be up for it because we know it’s going to be a tough game, but we do really want to win so we will do what we do every game both home and away and if we focus on the performance then we’ll be on for a good afternoon.”
