Iron forward Richie Bennett had his loan with fellow Vanarama National League North side Southport extended until the end of the season.
The 32-year-old joined the Sandgrounders back in November on an initial three-month loan spell, which would have otherwise come to an end on Wednesday. The loan until the end of the campaign now holds a 24-hour recall in United's favour.
Bennett joined Scunthorpe in March last season and went on to make eight starts, scoring one goal in the 2-0 home win over Altrincham last season and returned to the club at the start of September, making three appearances.
He did make a further appearance, and scored, against Buxton, but the game was expunged following its abandonement.
Since joining the Sandgrounders, he's netted four goals in all competitions for the side.
