Scunthorpe United is delighted to announce the acquisition of former Wrexham AFC forward Liam McAlinden on a short-term contract until the end of the National League North season.
The vastly experienced 30-year-old arrives at the Attis Arena following his departure via mutual consent from EFL League Two promotion hopefuls Wrexham.
McAlinden joined the Red Dragons in July 2021 following a successful season with Morecambe that saw him play an integral part in helping his Shrimpers side gain promotion to League One for the first time in their history.
The Wolverhampton Wanderers academy graduate made 64 appearances during his time at the STōK Cae Ras with Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson stating: “He’s been a great person to have around the squad. Over the last couple of years he’s made a real contribution both on and off the field - we wish him all the best for the future.”
Following being added to the squad, the versatile forward will be available for selection ahead of Saturday’s clash with Scarborough Athletic, subject to international clearance.
