Maison Campbell recalled by parent club York City

4 April 2024

Goalkeeper Maison Campbell has been recalled by parent club York City with immediate effect.

It comes after former Iron shot stopper Rory Watson picked up an injury in the warm-up of Tuesday night's 1-1 draw against FC Halifax Town.

The 20-year-old shot stopper is highly-rated by the Minstermen and signed a two-year contract extension last summer, having joined from Mansfield Town two years ago.

Campbell arrived at the Attis Arena at the start of December for a busy festive period as back-up to Ross Fitzsimons, with Aaron Chapman departing the club a week prior, with the National League granting the loan on the basis of having a back-up goalkeeper.

That loan was extended until the end of the season in January, but the agreement held a 24-hour recall option which was activated by York following the injury to Watson.

Campbell made two appearances for the Iron, assisting in guiding the side to the final of the Lincolnshire Senior Cup in wins over Gainsborough Trinity and Cleethorpes Town.

We'd like to thank Maison for his efforts while with the club, and wish him well for the future.
