Jason Law: It was great to finally get back out there

27 October 2023

Talented winger and summer signing Jason Law reflected on his first goal for the Iron during Tuesday night’s rampant 6-0 demolition of Spennymoor.

Law made his first start since the opening day win against Tamworth on Tuesday night, and reflected on a magnificent night at Glanford Park by saying: “It was a great night, great result, great performance, and it was good to finally back out there after so long injured.”

During his excellent individual performance Law picked up a goal and an assist in front of the Scunthorpe faithful. When questioned if it did him the world of good given how long he’d been restrained to the sidelines, he replied: “I’ve been thinking about it for a while because obviously I’d been out for 10 weeks by the end. It was great to finally get back out there and grab myself a goal and a little assist, as well as all three points.

“It’s always difficult being injured and its difficult when you’re out, but obviously I’m happy for the boys when their doing well in the league so it’s not as difficult to watch given that we are doing well.”

Iron manager Jimmy Dean is left with a recurring headache when picking his starting XI, due to the amount of competition that’s in-and-around the first team squad. Law had this to say when asked if any conversation were had with him in regard to his place in the squad while he was injured: “There’s obviously a lot of competition in the team, and I know that we all know that we have to fight hard to get in the team and once we get there to stay in the team, but we all know that there are other lads not far behind us that want to take your place, so it’s all healthy competition.”

With Bishop’s Stortford up next for the Iron who are somewhat of an unknown quantity, when asked if the Blues' current league position affects the way that United prepare for the encounter he concluded: “I don’t think that we can take any team for granted or lightly with where they are in the league. I think that it’s important that we prepare for each game properly and make sure that we’re on it from the minute that whistle blows.”
