Ogle in good spirits ahead of trip to face Wrexham

21 February 2023

Iron defender Reagan Ogle has reflected on the victory over Dagenham and Redbridge and spoken ahead of Tuesday night's trip to title challengers Wrexham.

Reagan started by speaking about Saturday's important win, stating: “It was unbelievable. The crowd stuck with us the whole time, we were unfortunate to go one down early on, but they stuck with us. We knew we could do it and there’s just a really good atmosphere about the place at the minute.”

It’s been a busy period of time with a lot of new faces joining the dressing room, and he added: “We’ve had a lot of new lads come in, and a new gaffer come in as well. That can go one of two ways but it’s definitely been a strength for us and it’s brought us all together very quickly which is what we needed.”

Ogle was also full of praise for the fans, whose support has been a great aid to the team. He added: “They’ve been with us through thick and thin all season, and hopefully we can repay it now and keep putting in performances like that.”

The defender has previously played alongside Iron new boys Aaron Chapman and Ben Richards-Everton during his time at Accrington Stanley, and spoke about what they can bring to the team. He said: “They’re two big lads. Chapman is a big presence and you could see that at the weekend. He’s comfortable to come and get the ball and that takes a lot of weight off our shoulders. Ben fits straight in, he opened up the scoring for us and had a very strong game.”

Next up for the Iron is Wrexham away on Tuesday night, and Reagan talked up this challenge, saying: “I missed the last two times we played them so I’m definitely up for it. I want to go out there and show what we can do and put them on the back foot. We had a good session on Monday, went through what we needed to go through, and hopefully we can put that on the pitch on Tuesday night.”

The Aussie believes that the new signings can help the Iron compete against the side who are currently placed second in the league. He said: “The signings have been good and they’ve brought a new dynamic to the team, so we can’t complain and I think we’re certainly stronger for it. Hopefully, it all works out and we put in a good performance.”

Reagan then reflected on his own performances of late, adding: “I feel really good, I’ve put a couple of good runs together in the last few weeks so I can’t complain. I’m happy with how I’m playing and what I’m doing out there so I’ve just got to keep things simple and keep doing what I’m doing.”

Finally, the defender spoke about the quick turnover of games which lies ahead for the Iron, saying: “We’re not a small squad anymore so that allows for players to be rested. There’s good versatility in the team so bring it on. Hopefully, we can put some points on the board.”
