Auction: Steve Cammack's hat-trick ball

18 April 2023

Visiting the Iron this weekend as guest in the Glanford Park restaurant, record goalscorer Steve Cammack wishes to place one of his hat-trick balls up for auction.

The auction, which will run until Cammack's visit as we face Southend United in our final home game of the season, will first run via email. The highest bidder will then take on the room in the restaurant, with the overall winner then taking home the piece of memorabilia.

The ball, from the Iron's 5-1 victory over Northampton Town on November 6th, 1982, saw Cammack net just three of his 121 goals for the club but is a rare piece of nostalgia from the era which the striker has, until this day, kept among his own collection.

With aspirations to visit his sister in Australia, the former Chesterfield, Lincoln City and Sheffield United striker has been moving a number of his items on, with this matchball the latest piece to seek a new home.

To take part, please send your highest bid to glyn.sparks@scunthorpe-united.co.uk by Saturday, April 22nd at 12noon.

There will be updates of the highest bid on social media each day leading up to Saturday. The highest bid will be announced in the restaurant on Saturday prior to his question and answer session, with a final opportunity from the room to outbid the current price. The piece will then be sold to the highest bidder.
