Defender Andrew Boyce has provided reaction on returning to the club on a two-year contract after leaving Eastleigh.

The 32-year-old centre-back originally signed for the Iron from Lincoln in 2014, making 37 appearances, including 33 during our 2014-15 League One season, scoring one goal.

Our first signing of the summer was most recently at Eastleigh, where he made 207 appearances in all competitions across five years, scoring nine times, before leaving this summer as he desired to play football nearer to his home in the north.

He told iFollow Iron: "I'm buzzing to return. The gaffer gave me a ring to say he was interested and he'd like to meet, so that's what we did, and here we are.

"There was other interest too but when I found out Scunny wanted me and there was an offer there it didn't take long to make my mind up.

"I'd been there (at Eastleigh) for five years and loved my time there but I am a northern lad and always wanted to come back home.

"I want to impress personally and play well as a team. It's a tough league. I've been in it a good few years now but you want to be in and amongst it near the top of the league. There are no easy games, it is enjoyable but hard.

"I've seen a few faces around the place that were here when I was last time already. It feels like home."
