The 24-year-old joins the club until the end of the campaign and is another player that manager Keith Hill knows well after working together at Rochdale.
Reacting to the move, he spoke to iFollow Iron: “I’m very happy to get the move done. I know what the manager is all about, he’s about hard work and I can’t wait to get going, and I can’t wait for the game on Saturday.
“It’s makes it a bit more comfortable and more welcome (having worked with the gaffer previously). I’m really happy for the opportunity. I just want to come here, work hard and hopefully score some goals.”
The forward has been involved 21 times in all competitions for the Shrews this season, scoring one goal in their 3-1 Papa John’s Trophy win against Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Under-21s.
Continuing his thoughts following his arrival at the Sands Venue Stadium, Pyke is hoping for more minutes while in North Lincolnshire: “I’ve not had as many games as I would have liked. I’ve been involved in a few games, but I need to be playing regular football, so I’m glad I’ve got the opportunity here and I need to make it count.
“I like to get in behind. I’m not too bad with my back to goal, and I’m going to work hard for the team, for the manager and for the fans. I want to be as direct as possible, try to beat players and take lots of shots.”
A Huddersfield Town academy product, Pyke knows Mason O’Malley from his time with the Terriers, but also goes back even further with one player in particular.
“I can’t wait to see the fans on Saturday and hopefully make my debut,” he added.
“I know Mason and I went to Primary School with Alfie Beestin. I haven’t seen him in a while, so it’ll be nice to have a catch up with him. I also know Luke Matheson too from my time at Rochdale.”
