Joe Nuttall signs for the Iron from Blackpool

31 January 2022

Scunthorpe United is delighted to have completed the signing of striker Joe Nuttall from Championship side Blackpool on a permanent deal.

The 25-year-old's move is subject to EFL and FA ratification.

A former Manchester City academy player, he made the move to Scotland and Aberdeen in 2015 before loan moves to Stranraer and Dumbarton.

He joined Blackburn Rovers in 2017 following a successful trial and scored eight times for the Ewood Park club's first team, while also being prolific in Premier League 2.

His form attracted the interest of Blackpool who he joined for an undisclosed fee in August 2019.

Nuttall netted four times for the Seasiders in the 2019/20 season from 13 starts, including a late winner against Ipswich Town just before the season was suspended because of the COVID-19 pandemic. There was also a loan stint at Northampton Town last season.
