The Luton-based referee arrives at the County Ground for his 25th game of the season and his eighth in Sky Bet League Two. The current campaign is his third as an EFL official.
Incidentally, Finnie's first-ever game on the EFL was involving both side as he took charge of the 2019-20 season opener against the Robins two years ago. He issued two cautions on the day - to Harrison McGahey and Andy Butler. This will be his third match involving both teams after refereeing last season's home win for Scunthorpe over Barrow.
His first game of the current season came at the Valley when he oversaw the goalless League One draw between Charlton Athletic and Sheffield Wednesday. Four cautions were issued on the day. His latest fixture in the middle came last weekend at the Stadium of Light when he took charge of Doncaster Rovers' away win at Sunderland, with just one yellow card issued. In midweek, he was fourth official to Sam Purkiss in the League Two encounter between Wycombe Wanderers and Shrewsbury Town.
Other than his debut in the EFL, the other match involving Swindon he's refereed was a 1-0 home defeat to AFC Wimbledon.
Last year, he officiated in 27 encounters showing 103 yellows and two reds. So far this season, he has shown 50 yellow cards and three reds in 24 matches.
On Saturday, Finnie will be assisted by Matthew Lee and Christopher Husband, while Ryan Whitaker has been appointed as the fourth official.
