Rob Apter joins on loan from Blackpool

28 August 2022

Scunthorpe United is delighted to have completed the loan signing of highly-rated attacker Rob Apter from Championship side Blackpool until January.

Apter, aged 19, signed his first professional contract with the Seasiders in November 2020, before making his first-team debut the following month in an EFL Trophy game against Leeds United.

He made his league debut as a substitute during the 5-0 thrashing of Wigan Athletic in January 2021.

Apter signed a new contract with the club in December 2021, and the Liverpool-born player, who has represented Scotland U19s at international level, impressed in loan stints at Bamber Bridge and Chester City last season where he scored 11 goals in a combined 35 appearances in the Northern Premier League Premier Division and National League North.

Apter, who impressed for the Seasiders in pre-season, told Iron Player: "I'm feeling good and ready to go. There was interest through pre-season and I feel it's a club where I can have a go.

"The manager says there's a good group here and it's an exciting move for me.

"I like to get on the ball against players one-versus-one, dribble the ball, score goals, attack and assist.

"It's a very good league and I want to get playing in it and show what I can do. Every game will be a tough battle but I'll learn from this experience and want to hit the ground running here, playing the best I can.

"It was good to get into training with the lads and see what they're about.

"I can't wait to get onto the grass and play in front of the fans.

"The aim is to score as many goals as possible, and win as many games as we can."
