Carl Boyeson will be the man in the middle for the Iron's home Emirates FA Cup encounter against Doncaster Rovers this weekend.
The East Yorkshire-based official will take charge of his 10th game of the season. Boyeson is one of the EFL's longest serving officials, with him now in his 20th campaign.
He took the referee course at the age of 22, passing the exam in May 1993, starting his officiating journey by refereeing on the Hull Sunday League. He's now racked up around 600 EFL games in total, in addition to serving for six years as an assistant referee in the Premier League and EFL.
On the opening day of the campaign, he refereed Wycombe's 3-1 away win at Cheltenham Town, showing two yellow cards. Meanwhile his latest fixture was last weekend when he oversaw Walsall's 1-0 away win at Sutton United, with two cautions shown on the day.
Boyeson last took charge of an Iron game back in February 2020 when Scunthorpe hosted their last Grassroots Day, winning 1-0 against Forest Green Rovers. Five cautions were shown on the day, with Andy Butler, Alex Gilliead, Abo Eisa and John McAtee - who also notched the winner - carded for the home side on the day.
He's taken charge of 11 United fixtures over the course of 19 years - his first back on Boxing Day in 2002. He's shown a total of 42 yellow cards and one red in those games.
Meanwhile, he's taken charge of Doncaster Rovers on 23 occasions, most recently back in August when the side drew 0-0 at home to Portsmouth. Across those matches, he's issued a total of 65 yellow cards and seven reds.
Last season, he took charge of 29 games, issuing 98 yellow cards and two reds. So far this campaign, he's shown 24 yellows and no reds in nine encounters.
On Saturday, Boyeson will be assisted by Wayne Grunnill and Kenwyn Hughes, while Anthony Moore has been appointed as the fourth official.
