Bobby Madley is the man in the middle for the Iron's final group stage match in this season's Papa John's Trophy, when the side host Doncaster Rovers for the second time in three days.

The West Yorkshire-based official will travel to the Sands Venue Stadium for his 16th game of the season and second involvement in this season's Papa John's Trophy.

Formerly a Select Group One referee, he then began officiating in Norway, before accepting the opportunity to return as a National List official in 2020. The brother of now Premier League referee Andrew, Bobby made his Premier League debut in April 2013 and went onto officiate 92 top flight encounters issuing 305 yellow cards and nine reds.

He began the campaign by taking charge of the Sky Bet League Two encounter between Sunderland and Wigan Athletic at the Stadium of Light, with five cautions issued as the hosts ran out 2-1 winners. Meanwhile, his latest encounter comes just 48 hours prior to this match as he oversaw the biggest Emirates FA Cup shock of the weekend, as St Albans City overhauled League Two leaders Forest Green Rovers 3-2 to advance to Round Two of the competition. Three yellow cards were shown in the game.

His last game involving the Iron was way back in February 2017 at Roots Hall when a Murray Wallace early goal was cancelled out by three from the Shrimpers to take all three points. Seven cautions, including yellow cards for Wallace, Stephen Dawson, Duane Holmes and Ivan Toney, were shown, while Neal Bishop was shown a straight red card - a decision that was later rescinded on appeal.

Prior to that encounter, you have to go back to 2011-12 when he last middled a Scunthorpe game. In total, across three games refereeing United, he's issued 12 yellow cards and two reds.

He's officiated just one past Doncaster match, with that game coming just over 12 months ago. Rovers beat Lincoln City 1-0 on home soil with two cautions issued.

Last season, he took charge of 36 matches, issuing 119 yellow cards and five red. So far in 15 games this season, he's given out 51 yellow cards and two reds.

On Tuesday, he will be assisted by Hristo Karaivanov and Matthew Smith, while Lucy May has been appointed as the fourth official.
