Scunthorpe United can confirm the 24-hour recall has been exercised on Declan Howe's loan from fellow Enterprise National League side Altrincham.

Howe joined the Iron last summer following back-to-back record-breaking campaigns for Russ Wilcox’s Gainsborough Trinity side, in which he accumulated 67 goals in all competitions. In 2024-25, Howe finished the season second in both the Northern Premier League and Emirates FA Cup goalscoring charts; he even topped the leaderboard in the Isuzu FA Trophy with his impressive return of six goals.

Since re-joining the club, where he started his career, Howe made a strong start to life in claret and blue with five goals in his opening seven league appearances. Since then, Howe has continued to help Scunthorpe in their play-off push, scoring 10 goals in all competitions across 31 appearances, with the majority of which coming from the bench prior to his loan spell.

The forward joined Alty at the start of February and became a mainstay in the side, apart from when he was cuptied in the recent encounter between the two sides at the Attis Arena. His overall contribution saw him score four goals in his time at the club, which came across eight appearances, seven of which were starts. His goals often contributed to points on the board for the side, who have maintained their mid-table proximity over the course of his time away from the club.

The recall comes following the news that on-loan striker Leo Farrell had been recalled to parent club Barnsley, with his final appearance in claret and blue coming as a substitute in Wednesday night's 2-2 draw against Rochdale.

We'd like to thank Leo for his efforts at the club, and wish him all the best for the future, and welcome Dec back to the Attis Arena as we push forward into our final six league games of the season.
