Scunthorpe United secured the signing of highly-rated defender Jean Belehouan following his departure from National League side Gateshead in the summer of 2025.
The commanding centre-back began his footballing journey in the academy of Manchester United, where he spent seven years developing at Carrington alongside some of the country's brightest young talents. In 2017, he made the move to Sheffield United, continuing his progression within a club that would soon establish itself in the Premier League.
During his time with the Blades, Belehouan gained valuable senior experience through a number of loan spells. After an initial stint with FC Halifax Town, he enjoyed productive periods with both Farsley Celtic and Boston United, impressing with his athleticism, composure on the ball and defensive qualities.
His performances earned him a move to Tranmere Rovers ahead of the 2023-24 campaign, where he worked under former Iron manager Nigel Adkins. After gaining Football League experience at Prenton Park, he joined Gateshead and quickly established himself as a regular performer at National League level.
During the 2024-25 season, Belehouan made 26 league appearances for Gateshead, helping the Tynesiders compete at the upper end of the division while further enhancing his reputation as a talented and modern central defender. Away from the traditional game, he also featured in the popular Baller League competition for M7 FC.
Since arriving at the Attis Arena, Belehouan has brought National League experience, athleticism and quality to the Iron's defensive ranks. Comfortable playing across the back line, his pace, strength and ability in possession have made him a valuable addition to Andy Butler's squad.
Still entering the prime years of his career, Belehouan possesses a wealth of experience from some of the country's leading academy systems and has already demonstrated his ability at National League level.
