Scunthorpe United secured the signing of Welsh winger Pat Jones during the second half of the 2025-26 season, bringing one of the National League's most sought-after attacking talents to the Attis Arena.
Born in Wales, Jones began his footballing journey in his homeland before joining Huddersfield Town's academy at the age of 16. Widely regarded as a player of significant potential, he progressed through the Terriers' youth ranks and made his senior debut in the Emirates FA Cup against Plymouth Argyle in 2021.
Over the next three seasons, Jones gained valuable experience with Huddersfield's first team, making 18 senior appearances while continuing his development in a competitive Championship environment. His performances earned him a move to Exeter City ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, where he featured regularly and made 17 appearances for the Grecians during his time in League One. Following his departure from Exeter, Jones made the surprise move to National League North side Chester FC for the 2025-26 season. The winger quickly became one of the division's standout performers, showcasing the quality that had previously seen him play in the Football League.
During his spell with the Seals, Jones scored seven goals and provided a number of eye-catching performances, helping Chester challenge towards the top end of the table. His pace, direct running and attacking flair attracted widespread interest from clubs across both the National League and National League North.
Despite significant competition for his signature, Jones chose to join Scunthorpe United and quickly demonstrated why he was so highly regarded. Capable of playing on either flank or in a more advanced attacking role, his creativity, technical quality and ability to beat defenders added a new dimension to Andy Butler's side.
Following his arrival, Jones became an important contributor during the final stages of the 2025-26 campaign, helping the Iron in their push towards the National League play-off positions. His attacking threat, combined with his youthful energy, made him one of the club's most exciting performers.
Still only in his early twenties, Jones possesses considerable potential and arrives at the Attis Arena with many of his best years still ahead of him. His combination of pace, skill and experience at both EFL and National League level makes him a key part of the club's ambitions moving forward.
