Scunthorpe United completed the signing of versatile defender Tyler Denton ahead of the 2023-24 season following his departure from King's Lynn Town.
Denton arrived at the Attis Arena after an impressive spell with the Linnets, where he helped the club challenge at the top end of the National League North and reach the play-off semi-finals. His experience, versatility and quality on the ball quickly made him an attractive addition to the Iron squad.
A graduate of Leeds United's academy, Denton progressed through the ranks at Elland Road and made three senior appearances for the club, scoring once. During his time with Leeds, he also gained valuable Football League experience through loan spells with Port Vale and Peterborough United.
Following a permanent move to Stevenage, Denton continued to establish himself in senior football before joining King's Lynn Town during the 2020-21 campaign. Across his three seasons in Norfolk, he made more than 90 appearances and became a key figure within the side.
Since arriving at Scunthorpe United, Denton has proven to be one of the club's most dependable and influential performers. His outstanding first season in claret and blue saw him become a fans' favourite thanks to his consistency, energy and versatility, while his ability to play in a number of positions has provided invaluable flexibility to the team.
Despite battling injury setbacks during the 2024-25 campaign, Denton played a significant role in the Iron's successful promotion-winning season. Frequently recognised in the National League North Team of the Week, he produced a series of impressive performances throughout the campaign and demonstrated his adaptability by excelling in several different roles across the pitch.
Towards the latter stages of the season, Denton was deployed in a more advanced midfield position and impressed with his work rate, technical quality and tactical awareness, helping the Iron secure promotion back to the National League.
He carried that momentum into the club's return to Step One football, continuing to showcase the versatility, leadership and determination that have made him such an important member of Andy Butler's squad, playing amongst the most minutes in the campaign, earning a further year’s contract in the summer of 2026.
