Alfie Beestin joined Scunthorpe United from Tadcaster Albion in January 2020, initially linking up with the club's Under-23 side.
A product of Doncaster Rovers' academy system, Beestin made 50 senior appearances for his hometown club between 2016 and 2019, scoring three goals. One of those strikes came against the Iron in a League One fixture at Glanford Park in January 2018.
Having also gained experience on loan at Chesterfield, Beestin returned to Tadcaster Albion before making the move to Scunthorpe. He made four first-team appearances during the latter stages of the 2019-20 campaign before football was brought to a halt by the COVID-19 pandemic.
As the club navigated a challenging period in its history, Beestin became an increasingly important member of the first-team squad. During the 2020-21 season he made 42 appearances and scored five goals, before adding a further 41 appearances and one goal during the 2021-22 campaign.
In 2022-23, Beestin continued to be a regular presence in the side, making 32 league appearances and scoring in the 1-1 draw away at Torquay United.
After an injury-disrupted 2023-24 season, Beestin enjoyed a remarkable resurgence during the Iron's promotion-winning 2024-25 campaign. Under Andy Butler, he was deployed in a more advanced attacking role and responded with the most productive goalscoring season of his career. His tally of eight goals and four assists included a number of crucial contributions as Scunthorpe secured promotion back to the National League, with his versatility, work rate and eye for goal making him one of the team's standout performers.
His excellent form was rewarded with a new contract, extending his stay at the Attis Arena and further cementing his place as one of the club's longest-serving players.
During the 2025-26 season, Beestin continued to play an important role as the Iron adjusted to life back in the National League. Whether operating in midfield, out wide or in a more advanced position, his adaptability and relentless work ethic provided valuable options for Andy Butler throughout the campaign. Having experienced the club's highs and lows since arriving in 2020, Beestin remains a popular figure among supporters and an influential member of the dressing room.
Now the longest-serving player at the club, Beestin's journey mirrors that of Scunthorpe United itself, having played a key role in the Iron's rise back through the non-league pyramid and return to Step One football.
