Delivered in partnership with British Steel, the United by Steel Gala will celebrate Scunthorpe's proud steelmaking heritage while bringing together supporters, local organisations, businesses and families for a day centred around the community that has shaped the town for generations.
For many, the Steel Gala remains one of the fondest memories of growing up in Scunthorpe, with the Appleby-Frodingham Gala bringing thousands of people together each year in celebration of the town's industrial heritage.
While creating a new event for today's community, the United by Steel Gala has been inspired by that same spirit of togetherness. Through the club's partnership with British Steel, the Attis Arena will become the home for a day that celebrates everything that makes Scunthorpe unique.
The gates open at 10am, with supporters able to enjoy a wide range of family entertainment, community stalls, heritage displays, live music, food and drink, activities for all ages, and opportunities to meet representatives from both Scunthorpe United and British Steel throughout the day, before the Legends XI take on Manchester United Legends at 4pm.
A number of performers, exhibitors, food vendors and community organisations have already been confirmed, with the final additions to the line-up set to be announced over the coming days.
The club will also release a full event itinerary shortly, including timings for attractions throughout the day, details of an open first-team training session, and guidance on where supporters can be and when to make the most of every part of the Gala.
The event will also provide a platform to recognise the people, organisations and volunteers who continue to make a difference across the town.
General Manager James Moody said: "Scunthorpe United and British Steel have always been at the heart of this community, so we're proud to be working together to introduce the United by Steel Gala.
"The Steel Gala holds a special place in the memories of so many local people, and while this is a brand-new event, we hope it captures some of that same community spirit by bringing people together once again.
"One of my memories from the Gala as a child was collecting a mug each year, and we're looking forward to recreating some of those memories that we all hold, while opening our doors for what promises to be a fantastic day for supporters, families and the wider community."
Lisa Coulson, Chief Commercial Officer at British Steel, said: "We're delighted to partner with Scunthorpe United on an event that celebrates the town, its people and its heritage.
"The United by Steel Gala is an opportunity to create new memories while recognising the traditions that have helped shape our community."
With the countdown now well underway, supporters are encouraged to keep an eye on the club's official channels over the coming days for the announcement of the final performers and stallholders, along with the full event itinerary.
Scunthorpe United and British Steel look forward to welcoming supporters and the wider community to the Attis Arena on Sunday, August 2nd, for what promises to be a memorable celebration of the town's proud past, vibrant present and exciting future.
