The Iron are back in action to face play off chasers Spennymoor Town, as we approach the final four matches of the season.

Last time out United were defeated, as we came unstuck losing 1-0 conceding late into stoppage time away at Radcliffe. As we are back in front of home support, Scunthorpe will be hopeful they can get back to winning ways as we look to steer clear of Kidderminster and Brackley who sit just one point behind ourselves.

In their most recent fixture, the visitors grabbed a convincing victory over their promotion rivals Curzon. The Moors won 3-0, with three second half goals, Junior Mondal opened the scoring in the 62nd minute, before Glen Taylor and Will Harris got their names on the scoresheet in the final eight minutes of play.

On the road, Spennymoor’s results have been a bit of a mixed bag. With eight wins, eight losses and five draws on the road, they have found themselves to be quite the unpredictable side. Although after their comprehensive victory over Curzon, the Moors are sure to be full of confidence as they go into this clash at the Attis Arena with some players who the Iron will have to watch out for.

Experienced striker, Glen Taylor has found himself to be a crucial player for Spennymoor as he leads their top goalscorer tally for the season with 18 goals and two assists. The 34-year-old is coming towards the end of his ninth successive season at the Moors in his second spell at the club. With 151 club goals, Taylor is without a doubt a club legend and is a clever player who may be handy against the Iron.

Another experienced player who could find themselves to be a thorn in the side of Scunthorpe is central midfielder, Robert Ramshaw. The 31-year-old has played 40 league matches for Spennymoor this season and is sure to be one of the first names on Graeme Lee’s team sheet. With six goals scored and five assists this season, Ramshaw’s output has been important for the Moors as they look to chase the play off positions in the business end of the season.

As United look to avenge their form after the narrow defeat away from home against Radcliffe, visitors Spennymoor Town look to build on their impressive away victory against Curzon Ashton. Both sides will have a win in their sights as both look to chase their promotion goals as the Iron look to steer away from chasers Brackley and Kidderminster, whilst the Moors continue to eye up a position in the top seven, with the play offs in their goals.
