Preview: Brackley Town (A)

12 January 2024

After two points dropped at home to Boston, the Iron will be looking to return back to winning ways, against a Brackley side looking to cause a threat to Scunthorpe as they push for promotion.

Scunthorpe, so far this season, have always responded to a game they’ve dropped points with a victory in their next fixture - never going two games in a row without a win. Despite the disappointing 2-2 draw to Boston, the Iron remain on a eight-game unbeaten run in the league, and will be trying their best to keep this run going.

In the reverse fixture at the Attis Arena, we got the bragging rights thanks to Jacob Butterfield scoring the only goal of that game in our 1-0 triumph.

IRON TEAM NEWS

United will be without Danny Whitehall as he continues to serve his three game suspension, after his red card on our trip to Farsley Celtic on our last away day. Danny Elliott took the role up top last time out, with the number 9 getting off to a great start, as he got a brace against Boston United.

Elsewhere, Reagan Ogle sat out training towards the end of the week with a groin strain, but Jimmy Dean is hopeful that his omission was a precaution. Jason Law also returns to contention following his recent injury.

Loanees Connor Smith and Jack Jenkins have both returned to their parent clubs.

THE OPPOSITION

Brackley do have a dangerous attacker in their ranks, Danny Newton is Brackley’s top scorer in the league this season with 11 goals to his name, and will be looking to cause some defensive woes to the Iron.

It goes without saying that Newton will be a very difficult player for the Iron to keep quiet.
