Initially a player with us for a brief period and then becoming boss in 1997, he was in charge (with the exception of a short spell in 2004) until 2006. He returned for a further stint between 2012 and 2013.

IRON TEAM NEWS

Alfie Beestin came off shortly before half-time at the weekend through injury (hamstring), with scan results expected at some stage to access his situation.

Marcus Carver (groin) continues to miss out but has continued to make progress in his road to recovery after returning to the training pitch.

THE OPPOSITION

Altrincham were dismantled over the weekend after a 4-0 defeat away from home to Wealdstone put a stop to their four game unbeaten won, where they had won three.

The mid-table side from Greater Manchester currently sit in 12th position, on 46 points, after registering 12 wins and 10draws from 35 games so far this season.

In their first season as a professional full-time football club, Phil Parkinson’s side have earnt a quarter final tie against York City in the Isuzu FA Trophy as they look to chase the trophy last won by The Robins in 1986.

Despite losing top scorers Chris Conn-Clarke and Ryan Colclough who had scored nine and six each, Alty have seen success in the transfer market through former Iron attacker Tyrese Sinclair and ex-FC United of Manchester forward Regan Linney, who have both netted four and three respectively since joining in February.
