OTD: March 15

Former Iron players and manager born on this day: Andy Smillie (1941), Nick Daws (1970).

Dave Syers's 10th goal of the season and a late Hakeeb Adelakun effort saw second-placed Scunthorpe win a close game against Plymouth in League Two in 2014.

The best chance of an even first half fell to the visitors' Gary McSheffrey, who scuffed his chipped shot wide.

Argyle's Lewis Alessandra hit the post twice in the second period before Syers slid in to put the Iron in front.

In injury-time, Hakeeb Adelakun's shot cannoned back off the post and went in off unfortunate goalkeeper Cole.

Overall playing record for March 15: Played 15, Won 7, Drawn 4, Lost 4, Scored 20, Conceded 17.
