IRON TEAM NEWS

Defender Kgosi Nthle has left the Iron following the conclusion of his short-term contract this week.

Marcus Carver missed the home game against Maidenhead through a late injury. A subsequent scan has revealed two slight tears in his groin adductor.

Liam Feeney (hamstring) continues to miss out through his injury. However progress has been made on the training pitch, which has seen him take part in a session this week, with a look to full training returning following a meeting with a specialist.

THE OPPOSITION

The Cardinals were 2-1 winners at home against Dagenham & Redbridge last Saturday, making it three unbeaten as they look to make up ground at the top.

The side from Surrey currently sit in fourth position, with Darren Sarll’s side registering 15 wins from 25 games so far this campaign.

In the 2018/19 season, Woking finished second in their National League South campaign, seeing off both Wealdstone and Welling United in the play-offs to claim their spot back in the English fifth tier at the first time of asking following their 2017-18 relegation.

Current manager Sarll was appointed in March 2022 of last season, following the departure of Alan Dowson after a four-year association with the football club.

A strong summer has seen Woking catapult themselves into a play-off challenging side this season, following a 15th placed finish last season.

Forwards Padraig Amond, James Daly and Reece Grego-Cox have all hit the ground running for Darren Sarll so far, with former Wealdstone top-scorer Rhys Browne acquired during the season in October which has added additional firepower to the side.
