Iron complete Ben Richards-Everton loan signing

15 February 2023

Scunthorpe United is delighted to announce the signing of vastly experienced defender Ben Richards-Everton.

The 31-year-old arrives on loan for the rest of the season from fellow National League club Yeovil Town, where he has made 19 league appearances over the course of the current campaign.

The 6ft 5in central defender began his career at non-league sides Romulus, Cradley Town, Hinckley United, Sutton Coldfield Town and Rushall Olympic before he joined Tamworth ahead of the 2013-14 season. It was during this season he earned an England C call-up, as he faced a Latvia Under-23s team in November 2013.

After a successful second campaign with Hinckley United, he made the step-up to the Conference Premier and signed for Tamworth. Highly-rated, he attracted the interest of many clubs in his opening months at the club but opted to remain with his new side for the duration of the season.

Richards-Everton made the switch to SPL side Partick Thistle for the 2014-15 season and was immediately loaned to Airdrie. He made a total of 20 appearances combined for both clubs over the course of this season, before joining Dunfermline Athletic. The defender featured 43 times, scoring two goals in all competitions, as the side were promoted to the Scottish Championship, making a further 10 appearances in his second year with the club.

He then opted to return south of the border to make his EFL debut, joining Accrington Stanley in 2017. In his debut year at the club, he added another promotion to his CV, as the side were promoted to League One as Champions. Across his two-year stay with the Lancashire club, he scored twice in 55 appearances in all competitions.

Bradford City would be his next move, where he’d make 42 league appearances, scoring twice, across two campaigns in League Two, before 62 appearances and five goals in two seasons for Barnet in the National League.

In his professional career to date, Richards-Everton has amassed 338 appearances, scoring 14 goals in all competitions.
