Iron manager Jimmy Dean looks ahead to Saturdays encounter with newly promoted National league North side Rushall Olympic and gives an update on summer signing Callum Roberts injury.
When asked how the players are feeling as they ride the crest of an unbeaten wave into Saturday’s fixture, he began by saying: “There’s a lot of positivity in the camp and it feels like were in a good place, but it’s a marathon not a sprint and there’s a requirement to back up two good performances with another good away performance, and hopefully another good result.
“We are every teams cup final and I think that been made apparent as all Tamworth, Sports and Darlington didn’t stop for 90 minutes. We've got to deal with that well. We're in a results business and we need to keep getting results.
Speaking about the opposition, Dean was full of praise for how Rushall manager Liam McDonald and his side have adapted following promotion last season, and can count themselves highly unlucky they don't have more than one point to their name.
"They were outstanding against Hereford," he stated.
"I think Hereford had two shots, one of which was a penalty completely against the run of play. They played really well, moved the ball really well.
"I know the manager well. Liam is a good guy and knows the game, and I rate him highly. I've had some good contests with him through the years."
For the gaffer, it's all about his side and building on a positive start. With the opportunity to take their points tally into double figures after just four games player, Dean wants the momentum to continue to grow.
"We have got a bit of momentum, but we want more," he contineud.
"We want to keep pushing, probing and winning football matches. I know I keep going back, but this was a side used to losing games, and we're now eight unbeaten including pre-season - we mustn't forget that. The foundations for what we're doing now was put in then.
"We want that feeling. We want the fans like they were on Tuesday night. The second half was amazing to be part of. It's a privilege for me and the players, and the way we keep it this way is to win football matches.
"We will have to win ugly, we will have to win pretty. We have to find ways to win football matches. We have to win at home and we have to win away from home. It's obviously going to be difficult to travel to the places we are going. We have to acknowledge as well, if we don't win, we don't lose. I think we've done a good job of that so far, and need that to continue.
"Our fans will turn up in their numbers to even things out, which is fantastic support. They're amazing. We've talked about how good they've been when we've not been winning football matches. Now we're winning football matches and there was a time during the game on Tuesday night when you just look around and acknowledge that you're lucky to have that and be part of it.
"I don't want to talk about it too much, because we've achieved nothing. I think if we could achieve something here, it would be fantastic to be part of that. That's what we keep punching home to the players - how lucky they are at this level to have this kind of support, these passionate fans.
"We have to acknowledge it, we have to make the most of it and we have to use it every single game. Again, I don't want to talk about what we're going to do, I want to do that talking on the pitch."
On the team news front, there was positive news regarding eleventh summer signing Callum Roberts, who has been missing since the Hull City game after hobbling off that encounter with an injury.
"We've had some really positive news regarding Cal Roberts," he added.
"We all feared the worst and I think that you could see that in my demeanour when I was asked the question.
"We've had some really good news that he doesn't need an operation. If he has a good week next week, he could be on the grass the week after and hopefully training with the squad the week after that. That's optimistic and he may need another week, but it's gone well and he deserves that bit of luck. I'm delighted for him.
"Jason Law has got a quad strain, which he pulled late in training on Thursday, so he will be touch and go. The other boys have come through okay, so we're in a good place."
